We are on week three of our Facebook for Business series. To recap, week one (Step One) we looked at Setting Up Your Facebook Profile. Last week (Step Two), we discussed Preparing Your Facebook Page. This week we continue with Step Three studying how the stars use their Facebook Page for social networking.
Mega-Celebrities Engaging in Social Networking
We will see how Cesar Millan, better known as “The Dog Whisperer,” reached 1.6 million viewers last month via his Facebook page — only a few months after starting it.
Now, granted, Millan is a mega-celebrity, but don’t be lulled into thinking that his celebrity status is the only reason his page went viral so quickly.
Here’s what he does with his social networking — in his own words:
Also, note the call-to-action in this article (“Sign up for the newsletter here”) — as well as the “Like” and “Share” chiclets.
Note also that this article is from Millan’s main site, CesarsWay.com: A perfect example of a Facebook Page supporting his main website . . . and his main website driving people to share and increase visits to his Facebook Page.
You may not yet be a celebrity, but when it comes to Facebook pages, you can learn a lot about content management and fan connection from the stars.
In our upcoming webinar, we will cover in detail Millan’s Facebook Page, as well as take a peek at his actual Page discussing the different elements included on his Page. (Stay tuned for information on our next webinar. If you missed our first webinar, go here to view a sample of it.)
It’s important to note that the earliest version of Millan’s Page used no photographs, but was drawing thousands of viewers even while in its infancy stage. One thing he did include that helped this process was a “Discussion” tab.
The Discussion tab is gone . . . but that is because it’s no longer needed. Remember last week we talked about how Facebook now allows any viewer to comment, “Like” or share your content. They can also post on your page, but calls to action are always a good idea in your posts.
Which stars’ Facebook Page have you “like?” Feel free to let us know by commenting below.
Come back next week as we continue our series on Facebook for Business. We will take a look at how to get the most out of your Facebook Page.
