Step Four: Your Google+ Page
|This week we will take a look at the fourth step in using Google+ for Business. Go here to review step one, here to review the next step, and here to look at step three.
Create Google+ Page
One of the biggest advantages of Google+ is it allows you to create Google+ pages for your business, and the format addresses many of the problems Facebook pages have not yet resolved. If you haven’t yet, go and set up a Google+ Page for your business right away.
Selecting a Category
Google+ will walk you through creating your Google+ Page. The most important choice you’ll have to make is picking the best category.
Once you’ve selected your category, it will prompt you to add your contact information, which will differ slightly for each category. Have your phone number handy if you’ve selected “Local Business or Place.â€
It will also allow you to designate who can see your site.
It’s pretty easy to set up and, of course, include your perfect profile photo (the one you are using for all your social networks).
Where is My Page?
However, one of the most common complaints from new Google+ users has been: “I can’t find my page!â€
To find your newly created page, go to the top-left corner and look beside your Profile picture. Your pages will be listed and you can access them via the drop-down arrow.
Share, Share, Share
Share it with your Circles! (As well as everywhere else you can think of!)
You can use your new Google+ Page to share:
- Photos
- Videos
- Links
- Tips
- Information
- Anything else you can think of!
In short, everything you’d share on a Facebook page . . . only people looking for your page or the information it provides will find it much more easily in Google Search results.
Be sure to use Google+ badges or your Page URL on all your sites — as well as calls to action.
Come back next week when we close out this series on Using Google+ for Business. We will share how to become more familiar with your new Google+ Page.

RJ’s Internet Marketing Services
The problem with Google+ is that is doesn’t have the foundation that Facebook has. This is Google’s way of trying to compete in the social arena. The advantage Google has is the ability to incorporate it within its searches. Again the problem is Facebook controls the market and Google hasn’t given users other than Internet Marketers any reason to switch. Many products have died a painful death from Google, but I am interested to see how Google chooses to get into the market. What are your thoughts Rita?

Hi Josh, thanks for reading and commenting. You make valid points. Honestly, I use Facebook more; however, I see no need to switch from one network to another. You can incorporate at least the big four into your Internet marketing plan. Also, it depends on who your target audience is and where they hang out. If they hang out at Google+ then it doesn’t make sense to hang out at Facebook and vice versa.
I do agree with you that Facebook definitely has captured the market and Google is infamous for having products that die. We shall see. For SEO purposes, Google+ is a plus (no pun intended). Once again, thanks for stopping by.
